As I was having my quiet time this morning, God reminded me of when I was
SINGLE...
Someone, at the church that I was going to at the time, had asked me if I was dating anyone. I was so mad, sad and hurt that they didn't even ask how "I WAS" doing, but had the nerve to ask about my "personal" life.
My reply was..."I don't care if I ever get married. I would rather spend my ENTIRE life serving God than be with someone just for a ring."
These feelings came from a sermon I heard on the radio, by Greg Laurie, and the entire topic was about the life of Jesus' mother..Mary.
She was a woman who loved the Lord and devoted her entire life to Him. Do you know why God chose her to carry His son??? During the time in which she lived, her nation was going through turmoil and she had given God her ALL. She devoted her life to serve Him. Knowing that she would do anything for the Lord, He chose her. She was willing to endure the pain and ridicule to have God's Son...that was a true woman of God.
That day I had told God that if I NEVER get married then I will serve Him. I wanted to be like Mary...simply devoted to Him.
...I knew in my heart that I was no longer "alone." I was His...
{I devoted myself to always read 1 Corinthains when I was single...the following verses always stood out and I held them close to my heart}...
1 Corinthians 7:32...
"I would like you to be free from concern. An unmarried man is concerned about the Lord's affairs, how he can please the Lord. But a married man is concerned about the affairs of this world, how he can please his wife and his interests are divided. An unmarried woman or virgin is concerned about the Lord's affairs: Her aim is to be devoted to the Lord in both body and spirit. But a married woman is concerned about the affairs of this world, how she can please her husband. I am saying this for your own good, not to restrict you, but that you may live in a right way in undivided devotion to the Lord.
